‘A Reason For Being’ is one of the definitions of Ikigai, a concept deeply rooted in Japanese culture, which Porada has chosen to interpret and embrace in 2026, both from a cultural and stylistic perspective.
Ikigai – literally iki (“life”) and gai (“reason”) – represents one’s raison d’être, what makes life worth living; it embodies what each individual is passionate about and what brings joy to everyday life. It means defining and pursuing a life purpose, achieving a balanced existence that harmoniously combines pleasure, meaning, and contribution to the world.
Ikigai’s definition - “a reason for being: a convergence of passion, belief, values, and vocation that gives you something to live for” - directly resonates with the Porada universe and is translated into three key themes:
Porada’s 2026 Salone del Mobile stand brings to life the brand’s passion, beliefs, values, and vocation, clearly expressing the evolution of its stylistic and production language developed over recent years.
Once again, Salone del Mobile confirms itself as a privileged platform to communicate the brand’s identity and its latest design directions, as well as a strategic opportunity for direct dialogue with the global market, including industry professionals, architects, designers, end clients, and commercial partners.
The stand concept builds upon stylistic choices developed in recent years, now consistently extended across international flagship stores (notably in London, Paris, and New York) and in Porada-dedicated spaces within multi-brand showrooms worldwide—from Cyprus to Johannesburg, from Miami to Manila and Singapore.
A harmonious balance of materials, a carefully calibrated interplay of volumes, and the creation of a warm, welcoming atmosphere define the aesthetic language: an architectural narrative that enhances sophisticated material combinations and stages a rich dialogue between manufacturing tradition and product innovation.
Wood, once again, is Porada’s defining material, the core around which forms and details are conceived and developed. For the 2026 Salone del Mobile, the theme of wood introduces an important innovation: the addition of oak, further expanding the possibilities for product customization within the collection.
Alongside oak, material research is expressed through the introduction of new finishes and fabrics: Saint Laurent marble, Green Alpi marble, Travertine—available both as marble and ceramic—, the new Brillo lacquer colours burgundy and lino, and the new Aral velvet. Completing the material language is the Ikigai design moodboard, a system composed of five different materials and a coordinated wallpaper.
The exhibition concept unfolds across three main settings, presenting the concept of the Porada Home, each with its own identity yet all clearly aligned with the brand’s aesthetic language and design philosophy. These interpretations of Porada Home explore different ways of living and experiencing both private and professional spaces. The entrances to these three worlds take centre stage in expressing the design language, acting as an introduction to distinct moods that are then fully developed within each setting.
The first space opens with a large, convivial hall—a generous and versatile reception space conceived as a place for meeting and interaction. At its centre, four large Ziggy coffee tables are paired with six Gilda armchairs in an architectural composition designed to encourage conversation - a new way of reimagining the entrance of a residential building.
The second space presents a high-end professional setting: an executive office inspired by international lofts, where formal authority blends with a sense of comfort and hospitality. The spacious lounge area, featuring generously sized sofas, becomes the focal point of the composition. Here, the Flavio XL desk finds its full expression in a new, modular configuration that conveys prestige and professionalism.
Finally, the third environment draws inspiration from the aesthetic codes of the entrance halls of Milan’s bourgeois buildings, evoking refined elegance and the sense of grandeur typical of the city’s monumental entrances. The architecture becomes airy, with emphasized heights, with a few key furnishings taking centre stage: a pair of Oswood-Osmose tables and the Resort System boiserie, which stands as an architectural backdrop defining the space with clarity and rigor. This interpretation of Porada Home expresses a deep fascination with timeless style, where Milanese architectural heritage is reinterpreted through balanced proportions, noble materials, and refined details—resulting in a contemporary vision of timeless elegance.
